Cleveland Loud, Cleveland Proud!!!

city-of-championsOctober 19, 2016 The Cleveland Indians punched their ticket to the World Series. Now they have to wait to see who they will face, either the Chicago Cubs or the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Indians have home field advantage for the World Series, which will begin Tuesday October 25, 2016.

Coincidentally, Tuesday October 25 is also the home opener of The 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers.  They will be having their ring ceremony and the raising of their Championship banner. Cleveland will be rocking, Cleveland will be loud, and Cleveland will be ready. Cleveland had waited 52 years for a championship, and this summer the Cavs delivered.  Now, they have a chance to go back to back in major sports.

The Indians won Game 5 against the Blue Jays 3-0 at the Roger Centre behind Ryan Merritt, who made only his second start this season.  Jose Bautista said about Merritt, “he should be shaking in his boots”, well he did just the opposite. Ryan Merritt pitched 4.1 innings giving up only 2 hits against this powerful offense. In fact, Merritt retired the first ten batters he faced.

Not surprising the MVP of the 2016 ALCS was none other then Andrew Miller. He is having a historic postseason and proving he was worth the trade the Indians made for him at the deadline. He has pitched 11.2 innings this postseason, he has one save, he has given up 5 hits, 2 walks, and has 21 strikeouts.

So for Cleveland, you can argue that 2016 was the year for the 216. Cleveland is having an October to remember, and is truly a city of Champions again.
